This project for Unite student accommodation was for the refurbishment of existing ground floor commercial space to Block B into new student accommodation within an occupied student accomodation block.
26 new student bedrooms were created including 4 kitchens and a shared studio. The works included block work & curtain wall facade to external envelope in addition to all the internal fit out works. All works were completed within the occupied block.
Key challenges on the project we dealing with the wind Loadings to external facade, party wall issues with the Snooker hall below and working within a live student environment.
Local labour and resource was utilised in many instances and a Considerate Constructor score of 40 was achieved.
