Sainsbury’s. Stanway

Sainsbury's. Stanway - Retail Construction

The Sainsbury’s Stanway scheme consisted of two separate contracts, one with a developer to construct a new build shell including below ground drainage and external works and the other for Sainsbury to fit out of the shell. The works included a large feature roof scape consisting of glazed roof lanterns and large mezzanine floor for sales. Domestic and storage was also included within the scheme. The works provided a sales floor area of 104,000 sq ft on completion.

The new works were constructed in steel frame, approx 1,100t with a metal deck and concrete mezzanine floor. The foundation system comprised of generally mass concrete pad foundations, pre-cast concrete perimeter ground beams and a fiber reinforced ground bearing floor slab and a 875 space car park.

The overall programme for these works was 32 weeks with an aggressive overlap between the shell and fit out works, both contracts completed on the same PC date.
