Unite. Trenchard Street, Bristol

This project comprised the construction of 484 self-contained bedrooms in cluster Flats and Studio apartments over 8 storeys with D2 space and refurbished a public thoroughfare. The site, was the Former ‘Bristol Entertainment Centre, the Ice Rink was removed with the O2 Academy remaining operational throughout the works. The building was piled and rock socketed into bedrock. The main design consisted of 3 different design parameters working together.

1. An insitu concrete frame piled onto bedrock – Insitu concrete frame 12 floors in total forming 75% of the building
2. A 63 meter long 5.5m high concrete vierendeel truss suspended off 4 number columns over the 02 Academy below
3. A Metal frame construction ( Kingframe ) cold roll steel structure was built ontop of the truss, 6 stories high and also connected to the insitu concrete frame with rocker slabs.

A high SBEM calculation was set so the need for smart design on the fabric and M&E was required.
