Works at the Primark Kingston store consisted of the the full refurbishment to the latest ‘Store of the Future’ Primark standard and extension taking the total store trading space from 26,000sqft to 70,350sqft including structural alterations and new façade to the entire front elevation.
The programme of works were carried out over 4 storeys with a 3 storey extension, inclusive of the basement being built as well as a 2 storey extension over the top of the existing store. New staff facilities and stockroom were built.
Structural alterations were carried out to the existing floor slabs, with new escalators and lifts installed internally.
The installations were inclusive of fixtures, fittings and new wall, floor and ceiling finishes, shop front installations, external and internal signage, lighting works, balustrading, cash desk installations and external works.
Services alterations and upgrades were carried out throughout, including new roof plant, fire and sprinkler equipment.
The site is located within central Kingston town centre, along a busy bus route, surrounded by a bank, block of flats, retail space and food outlets, requiring coordinated tower crane lifting from within the building footprint with traffic management in place and close liaison with the neighbours.
All works were completed on time and within budget to the satisfaction of the client.
