Warwick Quadrant works to restart as RG appointed main contractor.

August 20, 2015

RG Group appointed as main construction contractor for Warwick Quadrant redevelopment works. Work to restart once construction plan finalised.

Sainsbury’s is pleased to announce that RG Group has been appointed as the new main contractor for the Warwick Quadrant redevelopment project.

Longcross, who were originally appointed to undertake the works, unfortunately entered into administration in June, forcing a temporary delay in the redevelopment programme. As soon as it became clear that Longcross would be unable to continue with the redevelopment, Sainsbury’s began the process of appointing a new main contractor, to ensure that the works could begin again as soon as possible.

RG Group carried out the demolition of Lombard House, the first phase of the Warwick Quadrant redevelopment, and therefore has substantial knowledge of both the project and the site itself. In addition to this, RG Group has previously completed a number of major construction projects for Sainsbury’s.

A detailed construction plan will now be developed by the contractors, to ensure that work can restart on-site within the coming months.

Sainsbury’s will continue to keep the local community updated as the project moves forward.

Alan Ayres, Sainsbury’s Project Manager said;

It’s good to be getting the project back on track, as RG Group takes over the reins on-site.

RG Group has a wealth of experience in Sainsbury’s construction projects and in-depth knowledge of the site after successfully completing the Lombard House demolition. We are confident that this expertise will enable them to take forward the project as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Councillor Natalie Bramhall, Executive Member for Property and Regeneration for Reigate and Banstead Borough Council, said:

It is welcome news that work will be underway again soon on this scheme, which is key to the regeneration of Redhill town centre. I’m pleased that a new contractor has been appointed so swiftly and with our previous experience of RG Group through the demolition phase, I have every confidence in their considerate delivery of this scheme.
