The project comprised the demolition of a number of retail units and a leisure centre, followed by the construction of a new Morrisons superstore, Petrol filling station (PFS) and the formation of a new car park area accompanied by associated S278 works.
The works required the erection of a temporary pharmacy store for the duration of the project. Demolition arisings were crushed and reused within the site. Following completion of demolition works, the steel framed new structure was erected and Topdek roof panels installed. The envelope is cladded, including feature bands, timber larch panels, brise soleil and a canopy on the east elevation.
Complete internal fit out consisted of polished terrazzo flooring, complete sales floor installations including refrigeration areas, back of house and warehouse areas as well as the construction of am in store café.
The new PFS included tanks and forecourt, canopy, kiosk, jet wash and associated landscaping. The tanks were sited deep in a high water table. Sheet piles and bracing was incorporated alongside pumped dewatering, discharged through a 3 stage sediment filter tanking system.
