The project comprised the demolition of a number of existing derelict factory units, the removal of associated asbestos, and numerous utility service diversions before commencement of the new store.
The store comprised of a 1st floor sales area of 36,000 sq ft, with ancillary areas at second floor, with a warehouse facility and supporting concrete access road and service yard. An undercroft customer car park was constructed under the main steel structure of the building, with by travelators, lifts and stairwells.
A new six pump petrol filling station and kiosk with underground tank farm, and highway alteration and modifications to existing roads around the site completed the works
The site was developed adjacent to existing occupied premises and control of noise, dust and traffic management was of vital importance to ensure minimum disruption to these local businesses.
