RG Group were appointed the design and build project for the construction of a 2-storey Mercedes Benz new car showroom, with separate valet building and sales forecourt.
Works involved extensive excavations to form the proposed levels, Japanese knotweed removals, followed by drainage, below slab services, CFA piled foundation works followed by the formation of concrete ground slab for which the steel frame structure is built upon. Elevations were constructed with glazed curtain walling and cladded paneling, fascia’s and soffits.
The design incorporates a drive through service reception, a ground floor vehicle workshop and ground to first vehicle ramp. A first floor showroom mezzanine was formed internally with a feature staircase, feature wall, digital screen wall and passenger lift. Additionally, office spaces and waiting lounges were constructed within the main building to accompany the service facilities. Full fitout was included within the scope of works.
Links with the nearby school were established, providing educational visits to the site and raising money through charity for the purchase of a defibrillator as a legacy initiative.
Completed on time and within budget, the project was ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rated. Furthermore the project scored ‘Excellent’ (40/50) under the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
