The project comprised the construction of a 3-storey Mercedes Benz Autohaus showroom linked to a body repair and paint workshop with a re-marketing suite over two lower floors and a car park spanning all three. The secondary structure includes staff offices and a trade parts centre. Main scope includes extensive external landscaping, customer parking with EV charging bays and a feature fountain at the entrance to the site.
The main Autohaus features a mezzanine and external terrace area, two vertical car transporting elevators within the showroom, customer escalators, lifts and bespoke stair towers and an internal water feature. The body repair and paint workshop is connected via link bridge to the main building.
The envelope is predominantly glazed with a composite clad lower ground level encompassing a steel frame with concrete floors, incorporating PCC vehicle lift shafts and staircases.
Due to the existing brownfield site location and high water table, the site required additional cut and fill, dewatering and redesign of drainage and substructure foundations.
S278 highways works included the formation of new entrance, bellmouth and upgrades to the existing road. Highways England permissions were required to form the south embankment and retaining wall adjoining the Motorway.
