The works comprised of the alteration and extension of an existing building to provide student accommodation on part of the first floor level and the construction of new second, third and fourth floor levels.
The student accommodation features 137 modern spacious studio apartments, 3 twin and 8 DDA apartments . The development incorporates a terrace, courtyard, modern gymnasium, cinema and games room, study areas and social spaces. All of which were located above a new Tesco Express shell.
The works were divided into three stages. Stage one comprised of enabling and modification works to the ground and first floor level which were undertaken whilst Tesco remained trading.
Stage two comprised of construction works within the Tesco demise to facilitate the proposed works, including structural alterations. Tesco had to vacate the premises for this phase of the works. The was store was then refitted and reopened.
Stage three comprised of the remainder of the proposed project works which included the fit out of the student accommodation areas. The Tesco store was back in occupation and trading during this stage of the project.
