This project comprised the scoping, costing, procurement and delivery of 228 small works projects across Ikeas’s UK estate prior to financial year end August 2013.
Works were varied but generally entail remodelling / refurbishment of existing space to create new facilities within trading stores
The key challenges were the shear scale of jobs to be assessed and delivered and the geographical spread UK wide. There were also large numbers of stakeholders involved in scoping and decision making process.
Liaison at each store with the facilities manager was key. We also worked very closely with IKEA’s Project Managers and levels of communication were good.
IKEA requested a new progress and cost report developed which was tailored to their needs. Cost control was good with potential overspends being flagged early and minimised.
