This project required the existing B&Q Warehouse in Redditch to be resized / subdivided with part of the B&Q store converted into a new food store for ASDA in line with B&Q’s Right Space Right Place programme of works. Works were undertaken in a live operating store environment and were programmed in a manner to reduce the impact on the trading environment.
Internally work included construction of an internal division wall and demolition of existing two storey office accommodation located at the front of the existing store. Externally drainage adjustments followed by construction of a new service yard area and new service yard canopy, were the main works.
Extensive mechanical and electrical alterations were required both internally and externally together with provision of new incoming services to support the independent space for Asda created by the downsize.
All works were undertaken across 24 hours working pattern with detailed phasing and handovers required between construction and merchandising teams.
