A 40k sales floor store and service yard on stilts with undercroft car park beneath. Asda bid for the scheme as part of the larger area regeneration ‘S5 scheme’, which linked the Meadowhall shopping complex with the city centre.
The scheme was made more complex due to the extensive non standard elevational treatments, green roof and extensive ground works and boundary treatments. The store comprised the longest travellators installed by Asda to date. Extensive S278 works were undertaken, with surrounding major build projects, neighbouring school and adjacent heavily residential area presenting considerable logistical day to day challenges to the site team.
Despite losing time due to adverse weather over Christmas and New Year and steel delays due to Tata rolling plant failures, the team delivered the high quality scheme to programme.
