RG Group RSPB Team Challenge 2016

As part of RGs corporate membership with the RSPB a team of volunteers from Head Office & local projects headed to Broadwater Warren to become wardens for the day. The team of volunteers helped with the ongoing restoration work to return this Area of Outstanding Beauty back to the historic habitat of of heathland and native woodland. Restoring this habitat will encourage threatened bird species to return such as Woodlark & Nightjar and also provide habitat for Bumblebees, Adders & Butterflies.

RG’s Wardens spent the day clearing a large area of the reserve overrun with the invasive plant species Rhododendron. The rain (just about) held off so the team could really put their backs into clearing an impressive area – the first step in heathland restoration.
