The big guns have arrived!
Three of our student accommodation projects now have tower cranes or high reach in place and ready for action.
On our Unite Students site in Oxford, after a few setbacks due to the unexpected ‘early Spring weather’, the new build development is finally witnessing TC1 being erected. TC1 is a 17 meter high crane with a 60 meter jib.
The site team are hoping TC2 and TC3 will arrive on site with no further delays and be erected in the same manner as TC1. Hats off to the boys from Falcon!
In Coventry this week saw the erection of the SAEZ SL320 tower crane, ready to start lifting on the 604 bed student accommodation project for Crosslane Group. Work commenced on site in January 2018 and is due to complete in August 2019 in readiness for the 2019/2020 intake of students.
Our Leeds Symons House project for London Scottish Investments is now underway and, due to the tight back street location and difficulty of bringing large machinery into Leeds, the high reach had to come in under police escort on Thursday 22nd of March. We completed soft strip on site before Christmas and have been waiting since then to mobilise as access agreements between our client and a neighbouring property were being completed. Demolition is due to take around 5 weeks, with Stephenson’s lined up to commence groundworks and frame late April. This 350 bed, 21 storey student accommodation scheme is due for handover to LSSH December 2019.
